To further advance this transition, in RADICALZ we will reduce the time required for enzyme discovery and development.

The RADICALZ approach

We strive to streamline enzyme development by:

  • We will use droplet microfluidic tools – tools that allow processing extremely small amounts of liquids – for quicker and more affordable screening of enzymes to help choose the best candidates for manufacturing consumer products.
  • We will also create software solutions based on machine learning for discovering and developing enzymes faster and more accurately.
  • We will test the newly developed enzymes and ingredients in nutraceuticals, laundry and cosmetics products.
  • In addition, we develop bio-based capsules to protect these components and allow their controlled release during use, which is crucial in many industrial processes. The capsules will be developed keeping an eye on their potential for commercial use.
  • With the help of mathematical models and reaction engineering, we will optimise the developed enzymatic processes to be as sustainable and efficient as possible.
